PROUD RECORD.

TWENTY YEARS PRESIDENT. MR. J. TWOHILL AND TROTTING. SERVICE TO LOCAL CLUB. For the twentieth time, Mr. James Twohill was elected president of the Thames Trotting Club at the annual general meeting held last night —surely a fine record and one of which Mr. Twohill might be pardoned for being justifiably proud. Mr. Twohill, a true sportsman in every sense of the word, was the foundation president, and he has held that onerous position ever since and has filled it with a great measure of sue cess. The early life of the club was one not devoid of a great amount of struggle, but determination and courage displayed by Mr. Twohill and those holding office from time to time were to bear fruit, and now Thames is a proud boast of a club in a flourishing financial position, and, as the president said last night, “holding one of the best meetings in the country circuit.” Next year the Thames club will attain its majority, and in doing so it will have behind it an excellent record of 21 years of sporting service to the public of Thames and surrounding district, and it is to bo hoped that the greatest measure of success will attend this season’s race meeting in order that the elub’e healthy position may be still further advanced in preparation for the following season, which should be an occasion for celebration.
