RAZED TO GROUND.
HOUSE AT PARAWAI. No Water Available. NOTHING AT ALL SAVED. SPECTACULAR BLAZE. Billowing flames, leaping 00ft and over, met the eyes of tile first-comers on the scene of the fire which occurred at 12.45 this morning, and razed to tho ground the large house occupied by Mr. W. A. Brinkley, in Grafton Road. The flames had a strong hold when discovered by Mr. Brinkley’s son, and the occupants escaped in their night attire, being unable to save anything. The locality is out of the borough reticulation scheme area, hence no water was available with which to combat the outbreak.
The brigadesmen were helpless and could do little else than just look on while the flames licked their way throughout the structure, to eventually consume every piece of timber and leave a shambles of twisfed iron and ash.
