Features of the semi-final gallops for the Auckland autumn meeting at Ellerslie this morning were an attractive six furlongs by Stretto and a mile by Knight of Australia, while Royal Appellant and ltereatu went particularly well over seven furlongs. The course proper, on which poles were out 50ft. from the rails, was available for fast work, and provided first-class going. No. 3 glass track and tan were also in use.

Kilonsa, after commencing slowly over a round, completed her task in 2.17 1-5. She increased her pace over the last seven furlongs, which took 1.34 1-5. She worked well but was not unduly bustled. Knight of Australia, with Bonnybelle to assist him over the last five furlongs, registered an attractive trial over a mile. He ran the first half in 52 2-ssec., and the full distance in 1.44 3-5. This time has seldom been bettered. Bonnybelle completed her five furlongs in 1.5 2-5. Stretto’s Smart Six. Stretto went particularly well ovei six furlong, which she ran in 1.17. Shi covered the first three in 38 2-5 s ana was doing her work well at the end. Fleetwind and Aero King got to the end of five furlongs in 1.4 2-5. It was a good effort and there was little between them at the finish.

Surella reeled off half a mile in 50 3-ss. This was also a smart gallop. Llangollen, after running her first half-mile in 51 2-ss, had a bit in reserve at the end of seven furlongs in 1.32 3-5. She was showing slight signs of soreness as the result of bruising her foot last week, but she is improving, and it is not likely to affect her. Royal Appellant and Rereatu. In a similar task, ltereatu and Royal Appellant recorded 1.31 4-5. They mn the first half-mile in 52 2-ss, and although Rereatu had the advantage at the finish, Eoyal Appellant was on the ouside and had to cover extra ground. Jack Tar was going particularly wel at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.18 4-5, the last half-mile being covered in 325. Shy and Glenogil were in front of Te Ilai and Mal-de-Mer after traversing six furlongs in 1.18 3-5. To Hai appeared to have a "bit in reserve. ■ Sir Abb was given useful work on No. 3 grass track, and Kilberis was allotted a similar task.

Master Musk was schooled ovci eight hurdles in the centre, lie goi around safely, but bis jumping was a

bit patchy. Adsum, Count ilousilliou and Neil

were sent over a round of the steeplechase course. They started at the sod wall at the top of the straight, and after clearing the second fence of the double, Neil was pulled up owing to one of his leathers giving way. The other pair continued on, Adsum leading his companion by a number of lengths all the way. Count Roueillion ran down the first fence of the double badly and blundered at the second obstacle when they came over the fences on tli flat the last time, unseating his rider. After being remounted, he cleared the last fences safely. Later Neil completed, a round, giving a first-class display. Arrivals.
