WINDSCREEN BROKEN.
MOTORIST STARTLED. HAWK MEETS ITS DEATH. An alarming experience befel Mr. G. G. Winter, traffic inspector to tho Waikato County Council, at Gordonton, last Wednesday, when a Hawk flew off the- road and crashed into the windscreen of his car, shattering the glass ;.nd inflicting cuts on the driver. The bird was badly injured as a result of the impact ariS was quickly despatched by Mr. Winter. The hawk was observed some distance off, on the body of a rabbit, and Mr. Winter naturally assumed that when the car approached the bird would fly off, but apparently its flight was delayed too long with the result that it was swept against the body of the car.
