PREMATURE EXPLOSION.
THREE MEN INJURED. WORKING IN QUARRY. ACCIDENT AT RAETIHI. [By Telegraph.—Press Association] WANGANUI, Feb. 18. Injured by what is presumed to have been a premature explosion of gelignite in the Waipuna quarry, Raetihi, three residents of that district, Mossrs. J. Bristol, K. Haitana and J'. Roach, were taken to the Raetihi Hospital.
Mr. Bristol, who sustained only a slight injury, has resumed work, while Mr. Haitana, who is suffering from fragments of shollrock in the eyes, and Mr. Roach, who lias a badly lacerated hand, are still in hospital. A fourth man also received slight injuries. The men were employed by the Public Worka Department taking sihcllrock from the quarry for metalling six miles of the Waipuna Road, which runs between Ractilii and Pipiriki.
