OBITUARY.

REV. W. VICKERS. There passed away suddenly at tho Manse, Turua, about noon on Saturday, the Kev. \V. Viekers, aged 50, Presbyterian minister in charge of the llauraki Plains. The Bev. Viekers attended his usual duties on Friday and Saturday morning, and did not complain of not feeling well. He was a great worker, and was never idle, putting up a great mileage every week on his push-bicycle. It is thought he overtaxed his strength.

Tho Rev. Viekers was born in Wellington, and for many years was engaged in church missionary work in different parts of both islands. About eight years ago he was in the Coromandel and Mercury Bay districts, and foi the last 2£ years had been at Turua. The funeral took place this afternoon at Totara Cemetery, after a ser vice at St. Andrew's Church, Turua, at which the Eev. J. Haslop, clerk of tho Waikato Presbytery, the Rev. H. B Hughes, moderator of tho charge, anil all ministers of the various churches on the Plains were present. At the graveside tho Rev. R. Stowards, president of the Thames Ministers' Association, attended, and took part in the ceremony.

Outside his church duties, the Rev. Vickere enjoyed' a game of bowls on Saturday afternoons, cycling from Turua to tho Thames grocn, of which club ho had been a member for tho last two years. He is survived by o wife and small daughter. Memorial S^errice.

There will bo a memorial service in St. Andrew's Church, Turua, next Sunday morning.
