TEST FLIGHT.
i UNION AIRWAYS PLANE. PREPARATIONS AT MANGERE. LAYING DOWN A RUNWAY. ! I [By Telegraph.—Press Association] AUCKLAND, June 17. Preparations for the landing of the Union Airways plane on the test flight from Wellington at 3 o'clock to-day, were still proceeding at Mangere early this afternoon. A large party of men from the Public Works Department were all morning preparing the scoria runway from the landing field to the hangar. Owing to rain, the partially completed runway is somewhat of a quagmire, and there were doubts as to whether the large 'plane could be housed at Mangere to-night. An alternative plan was to take tho machine to the military aerodrome at Hobsonville. However, early this afternoon officials stated the runway would be completed in time for the reception of the 'plane at Mangere.
