False Pretences.
UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF. DIVORCED MAN'S LAPSE. £174 OBTAINED BY FRAUD. tß.' Telegraph.—Press Association). AUCKLAND, Oct. 30. Frank Jcssop, a carpenter, who was divorced in 1926, but who in June, 1931, registered as a married man for purposes of unemployment relief, admitted five charges of false pretences.
The police said that up to June last, Jcssop had obtained £174 in excess of what he was entitled to. •'A flagrant case," said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., after receiving the probation officer's report. He admitted Jessop to probation for two years, and ordered restitution of £l7O, otherwise accused Avas to go to gaol.
