New Town Clerk.
MAORI APPOINTED. FOR BOROUGH POSITION, (By Teiegrapn.—Press Association). OHAKUNE, Sept. 12. After considering a number of applications for-the position of town clerk to the Ohakune Borough Council, at a special meeting of the council, three applicants were invited to attend personally at the monthly meeting. Mr. S. Torepe, a Maori, was the successful applicant. Mr. Torepe is 32 years of age, was educated at Te Aute College, and is at present assistant clerk at New Brighton, Christchurch. He has been actingtown clerk there on several occasions. He is a single man, and will take up his duties next month. The appointment was made following the resignation of Mr. E. Larkm, owing to ill-health.
