Farm Workers' Union.

EARLY FORMATION PREDICTED

The growth of a farm-workers' union out of the present farm labour trouble was a forecast made by Mr. J. J. Shine at a meeting of the Putarnrn branch of the Farmers' Union.

"I prophesy that there will be a farm workers' union in three or four months' time," said Mr. Shine, "and farmers should welcome it. The union probably will lay down a minimum wage of £3 a week, which we will accept, although we must lay down our demands. I am not hostile to the farm-workers, and I maintain that there is no reason in tho world why a man following farm work should not be just as well placed in life as Ihe man following engineering, carpentering, or any other job."
