ROYAL WEDDING.
CEREMONIES REHEARSED. The Final Preparations. PARTY AT THE PALACE. A POPULAR PRINCESS. (A. and N.Z. Cable). LONDON, Nov. 27. To-day was devoted to rehearsals and preparations for the Royal wedding. Their Majesties went to Westminster Abbey in the morning to Avatch a rehearsal of the ceremony in which the eight bridesmaids took part, and later the Greek ceremony was duly rehearsed in the private chapel of Buckingham Palace, when the Duke of Kent and Princess Marina Avere present. Throughout to-day hundreds of workmen were engaged in finishing the public stands and planning tho pylons along the route, and decorating all these Avith bunting, in which the British colours blend with the blue and white of Princess Marina.
To-night London air Avas . filled Avith voices as the elaborate broadcast apparatus Avas being tested. The Duke and the Princess, stayed'an hour at a servants’ party at Buckingham Palace, at Avhich 2000 f Avere present. They mixed freely with the guests, shaking hands Avith old servants. The Duke introduced to his bride several Avhom he had .known, since his babyhood. One said: “The Princess has won all our hearts. She is all smiles and seemed perfectly delighted Avith us.” A woman guest said everyone Avould remember the party 7 for the rest of their lives. Princess Marina looked radiantly happy and it Avas obvious lioav happy she and the Duke of Kent are, The Queen, too, was a happy and striking figure.
N.Z. CONGRATULATIONS. LORD BLEDISLOE’S MESSAGE. (By Telegraph—Press Association). WELLINGTON, Nov. 29. The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, has sent the folloAving message to His Majesty the King:— “In assuring Your Majesty of tho hqmage and unabated loyalty of tho people of Ncav Zealand, I beg to express on their behalf heartfelt congratulations on the marriage to-day of H.R.H. the Duke of Kent—!with Princess Marina, and the earnest prayer that the union of their Royal Highnesses may be blessed with unalloyed happiness.” MESSAGE TO PRINCESS. NEW ZEALAND GREEKS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association). WELLINGTON, Nov. 29. The Consul for Greece in New Zealand, Mi*. Frank Dyer, has despatched a cablegram to Princess Marina, tho translation of which is as follows: — “The Greeks of NeAv Zealand heartliy congratulate you upon a happy marriage. We Avish your life to be happy and your future bright and cloudless.”
NATIONAL BROADCAST. N.Z. ARRANGEMENTS. The New Zealand Broadcasting Board has arranged to re-broadcast a full description of the ceremony and scenes at the wedding of Prince George and Princess Marina, which takes place at Westminster Abbey to-day. The broadcast will be relayed through all the national stations, commencing at 10.45 this evening (New Zealand time). It is expected that the relay will continue until about midnight.
