Baby Saved.
HOUSE IN FLAMES. FATHER’S TIMELY RESCUE. HENDERSON HOME DESTROYED. (By Telegraph —tress Association). AUCKLAND, Nov. 29. Sounds of their baby choking awakened Mr. A. P. Chambers and his wife, residents of Henderson, at four o’clock this morning; They discovered the house in flames and, at the risk of his life, the father rushed in from the sun-porch and snatched the child from the cot in the burning bedroom. Mr. Chambers was himself burned, but the child was not injured. A dog in the sun-porch had not awakened to give the alarm. The couple saved only a campstretcher and bed from the house, in which they had been resident only six months.
