EXOTIC FLOWERS ATTRACf. METHODIST ROSE SHOW. EXCELLENT (ENTRIES AND DISPLAY. The Methodist Rose Show, which was opened to-day in St. James' Hall, has caused a transformation of the building into a veritable flower garden—exotic and charming. The Rev. T. Dent officially opened the Show this afternoon. Encouraging entries have been received in all classes, and the systematic staging of blooms the centre of the hall and on the stago gives a picturesque effect. The stalls are prettily decorated, and from the ceiling is suspended a canopy of multi- coloured streamers.
Many fine exhibits are staged in the rose section, while the display of cut flowers reflects credit on the efforts of local amateur growers. Mr. E. Hardman has a particularly fine display on the stage, consisting of calceolaria, schizanthus, cineraria, begonias and maidenhair ferns, all of which lend themselves to excellent colour blending. The judges are; —Roses, Mr. H. J. Cutler (Auckland); cut flowers, Mr F. Causley. A full list of prize-winners will be published in the “Thames Star” to-morrow. The Stalls.
