Longer Hours.
COUNTRY RELIEF WORK
BOARD EXTENDS SCHEME. (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 7
Longer hours will have to be worked by relief, workers outside the four main cities in order to secure the same measure of relief as in the cities, according to a revised scheme for country relief, drawn up by the Unemployment Board, and to become effective within three weeks.
At present Class A men are required to work two days per week to earn up to a maximum of 18/-, Class B men three days to earn up to a maximum of 37/6, and Class C men four days to earn up to 50/-. The working time is being increased to 2g, 3:} and 5 days per week respectively.
