UNPLEASANT HOAX.
DEATH NOTICE INSERTED.
DENIAL BY "DECEASED."
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 17
An unpleasant hoax apparently has been perpetrated on an Auckland resident, Mr Hugh Champion, aged 22v the youngest son of Captain W. Champion, of No. 1, Abbot's Way. Remuera, for last evening his death notice appeared in the evening paper with- the intimation to friends to accept it for funeral purposes.
In the personal advertising column of the morning paper, however, the following paragraph appears: —
"I desire to state that the statement of my death in last evening'.-; Star is incorrect. I am very much alive. —11. Champion, 1 Abbot's Way, Remuera."
