All hands on the Carriso, which recently berthed at Castlecliff, celebrated Thanksgiving, the American feast day. Plump American turkeys were produced from the ice-box and there were wines and cigars in plenty. Even the Chinese crew sampled the turkey, though they did not appreciate the significance of the festivities.
