MR. POLSON AND A CLERK.
AN INCIDENT CLOSED,
•(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, Dec. 5.
The incident between Mr W. J. Pol--■son, M.P., and the .Dahnevirke County Council over the. payment of 1/2 for .a telegram, gent collect in reply to by Mr Poison for informa--tion. was concluded—to-day when the amount in dispute was received from TVTr poison, with the following covering letter to the Council’s lady clerk: “Your former communication could 'be forgiven on the ground of ignorance, but your last is insolent and -shows plainly that the slight put upon me' was intended. Let me correct •you. Members of Parliament do not -get their telegrams franked, and stampage allowance does not pay my "bureau calls. I fail to see what my ■salary has to do with the matter. "You receive your salary as clerk of the Dannevirke County, but you would •certainly resent it if I sent you a collect telegram dealing with County matters.”
The County chairman, Mr A. Gallo"Way, defended the clerk against the charge of insolence, saying: “I think It is Mr Poison who has turned insolent.” members strongly reattack on the County Clerk '-and letter was received.
