NEW ZEALAND ALLIANCE
ENFORCING THE LAW. , DISAPPOINTMENT EXPRESSED. AT PRIME MINISTER'S REPLY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 3. The Standing Comipittee of the New Zealand Alliance passed a resolution expressing disappointment with the reply of the Prime Minister to the recent deputations. It considers the inability of the police to adequately enforce, the law requires the attention of Parliament, and that the question of granting brewery licenses calls for administrative action on the part of the Government as well as the control of the consumption of liquor in, cabarets and dance-halls. The Alliance claims that the present Parliament is not less favourable to the reform of the licensing law than the last, notwithstnding the Prime Minister’s view to the contrary.
