DOMINION FIRES.
HOTEL AT PALMERSTON NORTH.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Sep. 2. Early on Saturday morning the Post Office Hotel in Broadway wa s badly gutted by fire, which is believed to have originated in the office on thei ground floor through the fusing of an electric wire. There were only six boarders in the house, three of whom had narrow escapes, making their way to "safety down a rope of knotted sheets.
The alarm was given just in time, as the hotel was by then full of smoke and flames, and the fire was spreading rapidly.
The boarders pay tribute to the good work of the licensee's wife, who gave the alarm and got the occupants out of the house.
MYSTERIOUS OUTBREAK

CHRISTOHURCH, Sept.,- 2r A fire broke out mysteriously at the store of Jones Bros., motor-cycle agents, in Bedford Row last evening, causing damage estimated at several hundreds of pounds to the stock. No employee had been on the premises for 24 hours. ( i The insurances on Jones Bros/ stcok are £6OOO.
