COUNCILS DISREGARD ADVICE
fßv Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAMILTON, Aug. 13. The District Highways Councils, throughout the Dominion have recommended over 2000 miles of road to be declared main highways, according to a letter received by the V aikato County from Mr. F. W. Furkert on behalf of the Main Highways Board. Mr. Furkert says this mileage is about 60 per cent of all the secondary highways. The Councils had disregarded tlie advice to limit in their demands. The Board was unable to adopt any substantial part of the recommenda--tions.
