KG ATE A. (From Our Own Correspondent.) _ Following a series of matches the Ngatea High School met and defeated To Archa High School by 6 to 3. Play was very even during the first hall 1 there being no score, in the third spell Pdkington, playing for Te Aroiia, scored a good try, the kick at goal failing. Oil changing over for the final spell Ngatea put m some good work and I 1 os ter and Huff scored, both kickin missing. Ngatea had a slight advantage territorially throughout but liad passing owing to a slippery bail spoilt several good chances. The game was interesting throughout and on tho day the winners deserved tiio Foster, Parfitt and Keane played a good game for Ngatea, and the outstanding players for To Aroha were Pilkington and Lewis.

Dent Cup. In two uninteresting games Waitakarnru met Turua and Ngatea. played Kerepeeh i in the knockout competition for the Dent Cup. Doth matches were very tamc j the standard of football being very poor. Waitakarnru ran out wnaiers in their game by ,5 to 3, while Kerepechi comfortably defeated Ngatea 19 to 9. The winners meet in the final on the. 24th. .All the teams were weak many juniors being included and there seemed no go in any of the teams, the games being veiy poor. Mr C. AA . Harris. KOPU. A very pleasant evening was spent in the Latter Day Saints’ Chapel, Kirikiri. on Friday evening last, August 9th. Quite a. number of items were rendered by the children of the Primary Association and all received srecial attention hv the large audience present. Those that came into special favour wore as follows: Musical Sketch, “Flower Basket,” by the Huia Girls; Duet by Margaret Gage and Celia Murray: a play, “Burial cf Old Mai} Grouch,” hv the Trail Builders, and selo"+ items by Missels Phyllis and Rosina AVetene. During the e\4ning dancing was indulged in and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. The church was tastefully decorated. The result cf the competitions wer a aft follows: Spot AYaltz. Miss S. Wootlroofe and Mr. T AA r a.tene; 'waltzing r omretition. Mrs. MoCleary and Mr. S’d F’i'-cr. A ven T nice sunder was served at 11 n.m. Great credit is due to Mrs. T. Watene. Misses Lena and Sorhv AVatene. who were responsible for bringing this entertainment to such a successful issue.
