CAMERON LOSES TO POLLARD.

There was not a large attendance at, the; King’s Theatre to witness the wiestlhig bout between Charles Pollard,,, the cruiserweight champion of Australia and Dave Cameron, the cruiserweight champion of Victoria, but those who went were well repaid •Ivy the. fine exhibition that was given. Both contestants were much in earnest and in the seventh round Cameron had to acknowledge defeat. It was explained that Farmer Yance, who had been billed to meet Pollard could not obtain permission, from the Association to visit Thames so the Association sent Cameron instead. Until they met in the service car the two contestants had never met. Pollard weighs 12st. 41b. and Cameron list. 31b. and his lighter weight told against the flatter in the bout.

Mr. Woodruff© of Kopu acted as referee. ’ * Priox- to the bout Pollard gave illustrations of various holds. Pollard secured a fall in the third round with 'a three-quarter Nelson, hut in round four gave an admission fall to Cameron on a split hold. Rounds five and six were strenuous and both contestants had narrow escapes. Head locks and leg holds predominated. There were several clever getaways, and in round six Pollard very nearly secured a fall. The end came in round seven when Pollard seemed a Boston Crab hold and Cameron threw in the towel.

Much keenness was displayed by both wrestlers and at times sheer pain only caused grips to be loosened. The bout was certainly very interesting.
