N.Z. MAN CAPTURES MELBOURNE
One would never imagine that there was very much to he made out of the sale of meat pies. A young Wellington man, Richard George Noon, has nevertheless proved that there f>i more in them than meets the eye, so to syeak. for every second restaurant in Melbourne, exhibits the sign “Neon’s Pics,” and their popularity, is only hounded by the ability to produce them. It rooms that when in Wellingten there was a pie shop near his home the wares of which used to fascinate the young man, who conceived the idea that pies made the ..right way and of the right ingredients would command a ready sale. Young Noon became obsessed with the idea of doing things in a big way and decided that Wellington .wn# too small a city for his expanding .ideas in the matter of ,pies. So he went to Melbourne and there commenced business in a humble way, found the road to good pie production strewn with temrornry difficulties, hut at last struck the right balance. His pies began to catch on, he shifted to larger premises, and now is established in populous Fitzroy, where his big staff turns out seven hundred dozen pies per diem, and “Noons Pies” form one of the standard food|3 of a great city.
