EXPLOSION AT TAUWHARE.
POLICE ENQUIRIES BEING
MADE.

The police are inquiring regarding a heavy explosiort which occurred in a creek at Tauwhare, near the Cam-bridge-Morrinsville , Road, on Thursday night. The explosion shook the windows of houses at a- considerable distance. It is believed several sticks a gelignite were used.
Recently there has been dissension regarding the Drainage Board’s decision to construct a second culvert across the road, one settler fearing this would increase the flow of water on his land, and he is reported to have threatened to blow up the culvert, which was completed on Wednesday. The explosion occurred a few chains downstream from the culvert.
