TASMAN FLIGHT.
MAY START TO-DAY.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
BLENHEIM, Oct. 11
Advice has been received from Dr Kidson that, the “Southern Cross” may take off for Sydney at two o'clock to-day. A definite decision will be made at mid-day.
WILL LEAVE TO-MORROW. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 11. “Although full reports have not yet arrived from Australia, I would say the airmen would encounter better conditions on the other side of the Tasman if they started to-day than if they postponed the start till to-morrow, but the conditions close to New Zealand might be better to-morrow than to-day,” said Dr Kidson, who adc{ed that he was awaiting a special report from Melbourne. “If the start is not made to-day or to-morrow, further delay is not improbable!.”
Dr Kidson received a message at mid-day from the aviators. They had .decided not to start at 2 p.m. The start has been postponed till to-morrow morning, and then only if this ‘evening’s weather reports are favourable.
DEFINITE ANNOUNCEMENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, Oct. 11. The “Southern Cross” airmen have decided to make a daylight trip, and to take off at 4.45 a.m. to-morrow, unless Dr Kidson advises against this course.
