CHARGED WITH ASSAULT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) tIMARU, May 21. At. the Magistrate's Court Bernard Lewis Blackwell and Ernest Gladstone McCunn appeared on remand charged with, on May 11, at Otaro, entering the dwellings of William Alfred Ancell and Robert Barr, with intent to commit a crime. This was a sequel to the late sensational shooting affray. The former was also charged with assault. On the application of the Police, a further remand was granted till May 10. ' IGNORANT PARENTS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) - TIMARU, May 21. At the inquest on the death of a child named Tomlinson, aged four weeks, the coroner said 'the evidence disclosed lamentable ignorance on the fact of the grandfather and the mother of the child in regard to feeding. It showed reprehensible conduct on the part of the relatives in not calling in a, doctor or a Plunket nurse.

BORIC ACID AND BACON

(By Telegraph.—Press Association..) PALMERSTON N., May 21.

At the Magistrate’s Court the Kiwi Bacon Company was charged with having sold bacon containing boric acid, and was ordered to pay costs.

Counsel for the defendants stated that boric acid was only used for the purpose of dusting to keep off the flies. Some apparently worked into the bacon.

Counsel for th e Health Department did not ask for a fine, stating the Department was going into the question of altering the regulations.

TINKER AS BURGLAR. (By Telegraph. —Press Association./ CHRISTCHURCH, May 22. At the Magistrate’s Court Henry Patrick Moore (381, pleaded guilty to eight charges of breaking and entering various houses early this month, and with committing theft.
