HIGH SCHOOL BATHS.

DETAILS OF- SCHEME. ESTIMATES PREPARED. At the meeting of the Thames High School Board of Governors to-day the details of the proposed High School baths, on the corner of Baillie and Richmond Streets, were forwarded by the Borough engineer, Mr J. E. Anderson, who has recently formulated sevei'al baths schemes in this and other centres. The engineer wrote giving an estimate for the' construction of a swimming -bath on the site at the corner of Richmond and Baillie Streets. The section will amply accommodate a rectangular bath 100 feet by 40 feet, which conforms to the Swimming Association's requirements for carnival and record purposes. The customary depth is Bft. Gin. at the deep end, decreasing to 3ft. 6in. at the shallow end. Water would be drawn from the 4in. main in Richmond Street, and periodically emptied by gravitation into the Noke Noke Creek. The estimate for such a bath as has been constructed in Te Awamulu and Morrinsville, is approximately £2861.. The Board thanked the engineer for his report.
