CROSSING FLOODED RIVER.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Oct. 10.

A Maori boy named Tinatoki Kopani, who has been missing since September 27, is presumed to have been drowned in the Mangatokerua stream near Tolago Bay.

He parted company with a friend, intending to cross the flooded ford. His horse was later found minus a saddle and bridle, but no trace of Kopani was found. The police are searching with a native party for the body.

NO TRACE OF BODY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Oct. 10. The search for the body of Tinatoka Kopani, a Maori boy, who was presumed to have been drowned in a flooded stream near Tolaga Bay, was continued during the week-end. Kopani’s saddle was found two chains down the river from the ford, where he attempted a crossing of the Mangatokerau Stream, and his overcoat was discovered further on, near where the horse struggled out. There was no sjgn of Kopani’s body which may be silted over. The search is being continued.
