The Auckland Racing Club’s two days’ Spring meeting opened at Ellerslie on Saturday in fine weather, before a large attendance. The track was in> good order. Results: GORDON HANDICAP (First Division). —1 Branson (Driscoll), 1; 2 Wild Pigeon (Jones), 2; 10 Nassock (Cammick) 3. Scratched: Satkin. Won by a length. Time: 1.41 3/5. GREAT NORTHERN GUINEAS. One mile. 6—PALETA (Watts) 1 4—IN THE SHADE (Green) .. >.. 2 3—THAW (Keesing) .. 3 Scratched: Covent Garden, Carinthia, Ganymede, Gascony, Paganelli, Singleton, Flying- Tresses, La Roma, Tea Lady. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time: 1.39 4/5. SHORTS HANDICAP. (Tinker) 1; 1 Paganelli (Wiggins) 2; 7 Town Guard (Henderson) 3. Scratched: Civility, Nastori, Autumne, Whaka King. Won by a neck.
