PICKED STONE AT COROMANDEL,
(By Telegraph.— Press Association.) COROMANDEL, Dec. 4. Some picked stone, showing gold freely, from the Mount Welcome mine, is on view at the Coromandel County News Office, and has raised the hopes that something really good has been revealed. It appears that g ol d bemg won at two different faces m the Mount Welcome property, and so far about lb. of picked stone has been selected. The Old Hauraki mine is resuming active operation under the management of Mr H F- Sheppard. Two new boilers have arrived, and were landed at the mine to-day. They will be installed without delay, and the shaft will be unwatered as soon as practicable. THE RIMU DREDGE. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) HOKITIKA, Dec. 4. The Rimu dredge has washed up for the fortnight’s work. There was a return of nearly 900 ounces, making ap* proximately 1400 ounces for the month.
