- £25 STOLEN FROM OFFICE
Th.e office of the N.Z. Bacon and Meat Packing Company, in Kenrick Street, Te Aroha. was broken into on Wednesday evening, and money in notes and silver, to the value of £25, was stolen, together with a set of bowls and a quantity of private correspondence, and 91- belong to the Oddfellows’ Lodge. The entry was effected through a window, which was broken open. Apparently the thief or thieves were more or less conversant with the working of the office, and were aware that the money was usually left in the office for Air. Donovan to pick up every morning. The money was leifc on the" table in a handbag. This the thieves took, and, opening a drawer in the same table, took,, as has been said, a quantity of Air. Hedge’s private correspondence. No attempt seems to have been made on the safe, and the thieves omitted to search the other drawers, thereby fortunately overlooking a further sum of about £5. Arriving at the office in the morning, Air. Donovan found the door open and the window smashed. The police were immediately informed, and have the matter at present in hand.—Te Aroha News.
