METHODIST CONCERT.

OUTSTANDING SUCCESS. Ihe Methodist Church was packed to its utmost seating capacity on Sunday night when the Choir gave another of their attractive concerts. In aii respects the programme submitted, was one which appealed strongly to those present. The Choir whose reputation for efficiency is well-known, sang seven choruses from “The Messiah” m a manner which reflected great credit on the capable tuition of its choirmaster, Mr A. Clarke. The singing of ‘ The Hallelujah .Chorus” at the close of the concert was very effective, and the audience was not slow in expressing appreciation af the rendition of these beautiful works. The choir is assured of the hearty support of the music-loving people of Thames when they present the full work of this great master later in the year. Another innovation in the programme was the quartette hymn singing competition. The Hymn selected was: “When I Survey.” Each of the four, competing quartettes gave a capable interpretation of the Hymn. Mr W.^Marshall's quartette was adjuged the winners, a decision which gave general satisfaction. Mr A Clark acted as judge other assisting in the.programme were: Mr Ilay, Foster, Miss Marshall, Mr J. Errington, Mrs Judd and Mrs Muir (duet), M iss M. Newman, Miss D. Gleeson (recitation), Mr Twentymon jnr., and Mr Hill (of Auckland) all of whom acquitted themselves very creditably and helped, to make the concert a great success.

Special musical Services were held in the Church yesterday (Sunday) and again last night +he Church was lull. The Choruses: ‘He Shall Purify” ‘Foi* Unt® Us a Child is Born” were well rendered by the Choir. Miss Nellie Deeble and Mr Hill each sang effective solos, and at the close of the Service, the Choir gave a beautiful rendition of the Anthem by Turner “Sun of My Soul.”

It. is understood that the Choir have been asked and will give a special concert in three week’s time tor the benefit of the funds of the Labour Day Carnival.
