Golden Bubble has gone into, J. Paul’s stable at Te Awamutu, Paul M also has Te Kara in preparation. Lascelles has been sold in Sydney 1 for Reports from Trentham state that Quest may be Mr E. Riddiford’s N.Z. Cup candidate, though Scion is in nice condition at present. Father’s Voice, the two-year-old colt by Absurd, has been leased /V from Mr W. G. Stead by Viscountess Jellicoe until August, 1925. Gloaming seems to be all right again, as he has resumed work on the track. In a recent letter Hector Gray states that he goes over to Paris and rides there every Sunday. s - Lady Isinglass, a full sister to Rational, will be seen out at the Wanganui'meeting. Mr Currie states that the trouble with Deluge Is internal, probably the kidneys. It will prevent him being seen out at Wanganui and Avondale. The following acceptances have been received from New Zealanders for the Melbourne Cup ; —Rapine, The Hawk, King’s Trumpeter, The Cypher, Radiant Light, Director. With Queen March, in the Avondale Guineas, and. Best Boy and Son o’ Mine in the Avondale Stakes, Mr Eliot Davis has an excellent chance of capturing both the classic races. A new course has just been completed at Brisbane. It is ten furlongs round, and will be opened shortly when the Queensland Turf Club will put on a ,£SOOO handicap as the chief event. Hall Mark and Mountain Craig stand a good chance of distinguishing themselves at Wanganui. Lockson, on present form, will go out favourite in the Okehu Hurdles at Wanganui, but will have trouble in heading off Malingerer and Omahu.

Tukia will take no end of beating v in the Guineas, and will carry most of the money. Bugle Note has been expected to win on more than one occasion, and his chance may come in the Durie Handicap. The Spring Handicap comprises some classy talent, but Muraahi and Admiral Codrington should about hold their own with the best of them. The run at Marton would do Kb g Quinn a lot of good and he may do better at Wanganui. P. Eva, until recently stationed at Green Lane where he had Golden Bubble, Marble Craig, Mangamahoe etc., in training, is contemplating setting up as a trainer at Te Aroha, and is at present in that township making nece c sary arrangements. Pagoda very nearly brought . off the coup of the meeting at Marton. She is a six-year-old mare by Penury —Gladys Soult, trained at Te Kuiti, by J. Dufty. She has done a lot of travelling without much luck. In the straight the boy’s cap came down over his eyes, and he was so inconvenienced that he had to keep twisting his head from side to side. It probably cost him the race. The stipendiary stewards wanted to know why he kept looking round. CONDITIONS OF £IOGO GIFT. A condition attaching to the bequeathed by the late Sir William Herries to the Te Aroha Club was explained at the club’s annual meeting. The terms of the bequest were that it be invested, and the interest derived from it be expended each year in the purchase of a cup, to be allotted to any one race ; but should the club cease racing for two consecutive years, then the s£looo is to be harded over to the Te Aroha Borough Council.
