BIRCH FOR A BOY.
“LAY IT OH” AUCKLAND September 7. A boy aged 12A years of age was charged at the Police Court with .assaulting indecently a girl of 11J years. He was described as beyond parental control and Mr. Hunt 'S.M., ordered twelve strokes with the birch by the juvenile Probation Officer. “I suppose you know how to lay it on,” added Mr. Hunt and on receiving an answer in the affirmative, remarked, “weel make no mistake about it, he should not be able to sit down for a dav or two.”
