DISTRICT NEWS.

PURIRI. (From Our Correspondent.) A very enjoyable evening was held here on Wednesday being * social and dance m aid of the Library and which was a great success. The following musical items were given during the evening. Song, Mrs Taylor, Paino Solo Mrs S. Bowers, Duet Miss Graham and Mrs M. Brown. Items were also given by Mr McLiver, Mr J. Moyle, Mrs Momson Mrs Naylor, Mrs Kelly and Miss Bartlett. A Maori Haka by local * natives caused much laughter and was encored several times. A dainty ‘supper was served by the ladies. The dance music was played by William’s Jazzaranda Band and a most enjoyable time was brought to a close at an early hour in the- morning. The Library will benefit greatly by the proceeds of the evening.
