AMUSEMENTS.

THE POPULAR KING’S. At the King’s Theatre to-night George Arliss, who is one of the most distinguished actors on the English stage, and who will be remembered for his magnificent study in “Disraeli,” offers as his latest screen achievement “The Ruling Passion.” This is a story of an elderly business man who, after having made a fortune, is told by his doctors that he must rest —no smoking, no drinking; in fact, the order of .the “quiet life.” The picture presents something of a moral in that it shows that work does not do any man any harm; in fact, if the habit is properly developed in youth, it is dangerous to relax in old age,. Fine supporting films include “Get Out and Get Under,” a 2-reel comedy featuring Harold Lloyd, “The Latest Pathe Gazette,” and another fine comedy entitled _“The Dog Catcher.” QUEEN’S THEATRE.

To-night at the Cosey Queen’s Mae Murray will be seen in her greatest picture to date, '“Jazzmania.” In this production Mae Murray is said to .jyear costumes that will make even the most fortunate woman gasp with envy. “Jazzmania” gives Mae Murray a wide range for her artistic ideas. The action of the picture., takes place partly in a tiny kingdom in Europe, and thus novelties in setting and in costume were to be expected. The scene shifts to New York for part of the time, and here, too, lavish settings are seen. It is a picture different from all other Mae Murray pictures, and is well worth seeing. It will be shown for to-night only, together with a good supporting programme. To-morrow night, fighting Frank Mayo will be seen in “The Altar Stairs,” a story of the South Sea Islands.
