In the coal miners’ agreement a hitch is said to have arisen through John Brown insisting on the introduction of the Sullivan turbine air machine at the Pelawmain Colliery. The miners contend such is in conflict with the agreement which provides for the resumption on the same conditions which were opera tin ol when the stoppage occurred. The owners’ representative explained that the new machine was working prior to the stoppage, but no award has yet been made respecting it. The dispute, unless speedily settled, may jeopardise the -agreement. ORDERS GOING ABROAD. (A JN. 55. Ocble.) MELBOURNE, July 26. In consequence of the disturbed state of the coal industry in New South Wales, the coal consumers of Victoria and South Australia are placing their orders in South Africa and England.
