THE RED PLAGUE.
GOVERNMENT ACTION. (Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 25. The Christchurch Hospital Board has congratulated the ’Government on its action in setting up a committee on venereal disease. Dr. Fenwick said the board had taken action 9 years ago against the disease, and had treated 1600 persons. He wanted to see conditional notification introduced. Other speakers said the disease was making.terrible ravages, and between 500 and 600 cases were treated in Christchurch monthly, with a monthly average of 25 new patients.
