THAMES HIGH SCHOOL.

OLD BOYS’ ASSOCIATION. THIRD ANNUAL RE-UNION. The third annual re-union of the Thames High School Old Boy’s Association was held in the school buildings on Monday, December 26, and old boys of the school gathered together from all parts of the Dominion. The morning was occupied with the annual general meeting and. the many spirited discussions which took place showed \sl rapidly increasing interest in the association and its various organisations. The annual report referred to the increasing success that had crowned the efforts of the various branches in the field of sport and especially the football club established by the Auckland branch, which 'although only in its second year had put up a very creditable performance against some twenty odd opponents. Of 13 games played 9 were won, 3 lost, and 1 drawn. During the course of the business it was moved that the headquarters, of the association should be shifted from Auckland to Thames, but it was pointed out that while this would be the ideal position and the ultimate one in course of time, the local branch was not yet in a position to take upon itself the responsibility of supplying a headquarters executive to control the four branches of the association.

The election of officers resulted as follows: —Hon. President, the Principal of the school, Mr E. Rudman, M.A., B. Sc.; President, Professor R. M. Algie, L.LM.; Vice-President, Mr A. L. McKeown; General Secretary, Mr F. W. L. Milne; Treasurer, Mr A. E. Edwards; Auditor, Mr. J. Arkle. In connection with the Old Boys’ War Memorial the president stated that the total amount collected so far was £46 15/6, and several proposals had been received as to the form the memorial should take. These included various forms of obelisks and monuments to be erected in front of the school, a silver cup. to be presented for various sports events and the establishment of a fund to provide an annual memorial prize for languages. It was decided to close' the subscription list* on March 31 next, and that the members should vote_by ballot on four schemes, one to be forwarded by each branch of the association. In the afternoon a tennis tournament was held for the championship tennis cup donated by Mr, A. E. MeIveown, the retiring president. Of the 19 contestants who entered, A. E. L. Dodd, of Te Kuiti, proved the winner. The filial stages of the tournament were as follow. Fourth round. —Clarke beat S. Judd, 6 —3; T. Miller beat J. Beck, 6 —5; A. Dodd beat A. Beck, 6 —2; R. Judd beat W. Donnelly, 6—4. Semi-final. —T. Miller beat Clarke, 6 —o; A. Dodd beat R. Judd, 6—2. Final. —A. Dodd beat T. Miller, 6—2. During the afternoon'the members of the Old Girls’ Association provided afternoon tea which was greatly appreciated. The day’s proceedings were suitably, ended with a most enjoyable little dance held in the school. Among those present were many friends from, kindred associations throughout the Dominion. ,
