A BALANCE SHEET. INTERESTING FIGURES. (From Our Correspondent.) PARLIAMENT BLDGS. Dec. 21. A number of vbalance-sheets of Stiato Departments were placed before tho House t#day.- n The figures aroxof considerable interest, though it as evident that th o •■ departments have :had much difficulty in presenting their accounts in a commercial form. Some of the bigger departments have nob yet presented their balance-sheets in final form. The figures show, for example, that the Advances to Settlers Office, on March 31 last, had £6,918,274 on loan to settlers, while at tho same time it had £2,139,773 on temporary investment, and £565,000 on. temporary loan to local authorities and workers' branches. Cash in hand amounted to : £112,353, and the net profits for the year had been £92,891. Farmers who have, found money hard to borrow will be interested in these figures." ° .
