'-.(Prom Our Correspondent.) , A very enjoyable dance 'was held in the Matatoki" .Hall oh Wednesday evening last, and there was a large attendance.' These evenings' are promoted by. the young people of Matatoki, and as there are a good many of them around this district, it keeps them together and provides some social enjoyment.

The monthly meeting of the Matatoki branch of" the Farmers' Union I was held on Thursday night.. Only a few members were present. More of the members should attend as it is of benefit to them. Mr. Robt. Cox (vice-president), presided owing to -the unavoidable absence of the chairman, Mr. Frisken. A good deal of discussion took place regarding the damage done to the road drains by wandering cattle. The Matatoki;cheese .factory, has just been , overhauled and r has .now started running-. every day. This factory has had-a very,gqod. run in the past and we are looking forward to another, good-season, as there will ... be a .lot of milkmg this' year.
