TAIRUA.

(From Our Travelling Reporter.) LANDS FOR SETTLEMENT.

Some two years ago the Government i purchased 250 acres of land at Tairua from 'the Auckland Kauri ‘ Timber Company. The intention of the Government was, the residento understand, to cut this block up into small sections and throw them open for ' settlement. The - residents of -Tairua are wondering why nothing more has been done in this matter.. The land has been purchased by the Government but there it ends. It is to-day no more advanced than when the purchase was . effected. There is not the slightest doubt thatwhat may be termed as “the locking up” of this block has hampered, to some extent, the progress of the township of Tairua. GRAZING OF DAIRY STOCK. All of the dairy that were brought from various parts of the Thames Valley and the Waikato to Tairua to graze during the winter have now returned to their various owners’ farms. It is anticipated that next season a much greater number of dairy cattle will come over the ranges to where food plentiful, to weather' the winter months. ' NO. ONE
