NEW SAFETY DEVICE. (A. and N.Z. Cable). LONDON, August 3. A new invention called a methanometer, capable of automatically recording a fractional percentage of firedamp in mines, has passea the final official tests.
It is expected to reduce the risk of mine explosions to a* minimum.
