Lord Crewe, in the House of Lords, as a protest against an attempt -to rush important legislation throiigh, •in order to avoid an autumn session, moved that the House of Lords should decline to proceed with any Bills not yet read a first time, until the end of October. The motion was rejected by 104 •to 89.
