SUPPOSED SUICIDE.

What appears to havte fbeen a case of deliberate suicide is reported from Faeroa. Yesterday a man said to be young and well dressed, was noticed on the ftangiora ferry. His movttments were peculiar, but no special attention was paid to him. Suddenly he was seen to throw himself into the, water and when those who. saw the sensational occurrence rushed to the spot, all that there was^to denote a tragedy, was the man's hat, which was floating on the surface of the water. The lint was secured but no further trace oF the man could be
seen. Search .was made along the river bank, and, it is said a Maori endeavoured to locate the body by diving, bub all the efforts made were of no avail
The police ware informed of the affair and search and dragging operations were at once proceeded with, but tip to last night the body had not been recovtered.
The hat was of .English" make and the theory is that the man has not been long out from England.
