He , was hopeful of the future relations I-with Germany: Wo wished to see her develop as large a trade as possible. The greater h«r trade the more we would trade with her. He wished to see her have a full place- in the sun and expand trade and territory in every legitimate direction. Others rights naturally must be respected. He added : Nothing better vrm conceivable than Great Britain and Germany working side by side in raising the level of the less civilised parte of the globe.
