THE MIINEi MIANAGER'S REPORT
SPLENDID "VEiNTIIATION
The mine manager (Mr E. Cartwright) reported as under:— >A further distance of 20ft has been ad'icd to the subsidiary crosscut this \?e;k, making the totaJ distance driven from the main drive 208 ft to date. The country continues of a very favourable nature, but there is not quite so much water coming through ;is when last reporting. OElast drive: ' This drive has been discontinued foi i the present on account of the m.-'n being required in the Saxon Cii-l. Saxon shaft: The gas was very bad in the shaft on Monday last on &c----count of standing from the Saturday, Water was turned down, whioxi had the necessary effect of displao:ng the gas enabling us to go down to No. 5 level, where- we found a break dowti and obstructing the air passage. This has been repaired, and I am pleased to say we have h:id splendid ventilation eter since, and ■ as soon as the * shaft is repaired i down to this level, I don't anticipate | any difficulty in getting to No. 6. j The work of repairing and enlarging the shaft is being proceeded with «i the present time.
