MAY QUEEN.
J Mr W. Biaker, manager, reports as under-:— No. 10 level, 1000 feet: In the -Bright Smile crosscut a rib of tight country has been met with during the week, and I have no doubt tLat this has caused the reef to be thrown i out of its course, and in all pro- ' bability it will be found when this j country is passed through. The' country which has been very dry! . lately, is now of a damp nature. j Timbering the drive on the Ex-' change reef is still in progress. This ' work has 'been of rather a slow nature owing to the drive having to be enlarged in places to make room s for the timber sets. We, however, ' expect to have the timbering finish ;d , in a day or two when a start will be ' made to rise on the quartz. j Xo. 6 level: The quartz being won j from the hangingwall and footwall J branches of No. 4) lode continues to ! show gold pretty freely, and is of a ' fair grade. * At the battery crushing is pro- ! ceeding. *
