■ ■ A \: .' - A veay enjoyable social was held in the Oddfellows' Hall last evening, in aid "of.-.., . .St. George's Qiurch, and took the form of a concert and dramatic performance. A pleasing programme was presented and met with due appreoiataon fromi the audience. An overture was brilliantly played toy Mirs Triinmier. Mr E. Watson was in excellent voice m his solo, Miss Clarke was heard to advantage in "Pray foi me"; the duet "Memories of Home" was harmoniously rendered by the Misses MkjPike; Mirs G. Johnston, recently from Home, gaye evideuoe of much finish in her interrelation oi "When the heart is young"; Ml Harkk in "Oira !Pro ,Nobis" added to his previous suooeasee and' bowed his acknowledgements; and Mr E. H. -Buo^ngham for his effective rett dition of "The Deathless Army" responded with "True Till Death" with equal excellence. Recitations were given (by Messrs »Jordan in his usual inimitable style, and! Mr Bennett The a*^mpanimentfs were capably played by Mrs Trimmer, Masses Twohill and Cato, and (Mr E. Constant "Box andl Cox," *hat amusing farce, conloluded the entertainment, the partis bedng capitally taken by Messft w. HL Beimetiti andJ AL Chapman, and Miss Melletit, the ludicrous situations that were involved being thoroughly enjoyed Iby the audience.
