AUCKLAND/April'lß.---"Get on the soil," has been the advice of the present Government to all and sundry wishing for employment and willing to work, while their legislation has been in the direction of facilitating those who wer©'^ inclined to swallow their prescription. These have "apparently' been appreciated judging from the very, large number of applications received lately in estates acquired by the Government and thrown open for selection. Applications were opened, .'today for nearly 54,000 acres near Te Kuiti. and thei great demand for'land in this direction was demonstrated by the large, number of applications received.
